Get Your Leftovers Ready!

Get ready for Leftover Tuesdays! As you’re planning your weekend meals, consider making something that will generate some leftovers that you can do something clever with for this new Leftover Tuesdays event. I won’t give all my secrets away yet, but will say that I’m planning to cook something savory tonight and then add some spice for LOT.

A quick recap of how this will work:1) have a leftover item on hand as a result of your cooking (or other dining) between Wednesday Jan. 17 and Monday, January 22; 2) make something new with those leftover items and blog about this new creation by Tuesday, Jan. 23. I will post a round-up by Saturday. We’ll do some voting and announce and award or two.

To enter, post your blog by midnight EST on 1/22/07 and send me an email to cookingchat at hotmail.com with the subject “leftover Tuesdays”. Please include the following information:

Your name and location
Your blog name and url
Url for your Leftover Tuesdays entry
And you can attach a photo to include in the round-up if you’d like.

For full details, read the original post on the event.

It all sounds like a good idea - but I cook, and freeze 'left overs' in single serve portions! So there are no true 'left overs'. I lookforward to the left overs round up for 'cook and freeze' ideas!

Hi David,
I had every intention of entering your intriguing event this week but am going to have to bow out this time around.
I have a very sick dog at home and he's been taking up both my time and my heart lately.
Good luck on your virgin round up. I hope to join in in the future!

David, I definitely was going to try to participate. I made a turkey meatloaf Sunday night, thinking of course we would have leftovers from meatloaf. But we ate the whole thing! Believe me, I regretted the overindulgence, but alas, now I have no leftovers. Looking forward to seeing what others do. Also, if you get Gourmet, there is a wonderful little article by Jane Smiley in this month's issue detailing what happened to a pot of onion soup she made -- I think she reinvented her leftovers 7 times. Definitely check it out.
