2003 Pietra Santa Zinfandel
Last night I grilled pork chops, using the marinade and salsa from this recipe. This time around, I grilled the peppers and onions in the salsa to match the grilled meat. It was a tasty meal that called for a good zinfandel to match.
The 2003 Pietra Santa Zinfandel fit the bill nicely. This well-balanced zin has bold blackberry flavors and hints of spice, making it a nice match for the zesty salsa for the pork chops. It hails from Cienaga Valley, an area 25 miles east of Monterey Bay, California. It's not an area I'm familiar with, but apparently a good spot for growing zinfandel grapes. And at $15, I'd say this bottle is a bargain.

Yum... Pietra Santa's one of my favorite Zin's. Others worthy of consideration (if you haven't already tried them) are Sobon Estate's Rocky Top (from Amador County in gold country) and David Bruce's "Seven Deadly Zins" -- worth it for the bottle alone, though the wine's also good!
I have found index of guidebooks similar to your blog content and would like to share. There are interesting ideas for cooking, recipes, home care, etc. Get it and enjoy!
