I've been very tardy in posting in update explaining why I haven't been blogging here. First, it's been an incredibly exciting and busy year for me at my organization, Social Capital Inc. We're doubling in size as we expand our community building work throughout Massachusetts, which hasn't left a lot of time for my food blogging.
I've been directing my food blogging time toward the bi-monthly Wine Chat column I'm writing on Gather.com. This has been a fun way to explore a vareity of wine related subjects and share what I find with others. The latest column focuses on wines from Paso Robles, a great up and coming region featuring big reds that pair well with hearty fall fare. I'm starting to work on my Thanksgiving wine recommendations column--any suggestions please let me know, I'll be sure to link to your blog if I include them.
Would welcome more people interested in food & wine to join me on Gather. This site has a wide array of good content, allowing me to pursue my eclectic interests including books, poetry, travel as well as food & wine.
And one more update. I've started a blog Just the Wine to keep track of my wine notes. The idea is to use it to organize my notes for future articles and to also build up a database of food & wine pairing ideas.
So that's my update. At the very least, I'll post here a summary of my Wine Chat columns, and will still post a recipe or two from time to time.

Wow David, you are a busy man. I kept checking to see if you had posted another good recipe and now I know why you had not. I know how other projects can take over a bit. I have been writing a wine newsletter after I stopped writing my column for a local newspaper. I figured maybe once a month would do it, but instead I have send them out as much as twice in one week. Just getting ready to taste 10 sparkling wine with my panel on Thursday and that will be enough info for a couple more newsletters.
Will be checking in regularly to follow your exciting ventures.
Cheers,
Wilf K.
I'll be curious to hear about your sparklers article; I was figuring on doing something similar for a Dec. article. Just need to round up some tasters to help. I'm sure that won't be a hard sell!
The wine site is very nice, I like how it's all laid out.
I have one piece of wine advice: expand and stretch out. By your postings it appears you love red wine; have you tried a Barbera, Malbec, Mourvedre, Tempranillo, Bonarda, Garnacha/Grenache, Touriga Franca or Nacional? South American wines are intensely flavored, generally inexpensive and well worth an extensive investigation. Spain's Albarino white grape is exceptional, as is an Argentine Torrontes or the much revered Tocai Fruilano from Italy. I know you have enjoyed Viognier before and if you try a German Scheurebe white wine you will find many of the same flavor profiles.
Ok, enough, enough. Since part of what I do is turning people on to new wine experiences, I couldn't resist. Salut!
good suggestions Kate. Not sure if you were looking my "Just the Wine" site or "Wine Chat" column; but I've definitely enjoyed some that you mention. I wrote about a Spanish wine party I hosted recently, and we enjoyed Tempranillo, Garnacha and Albarino. I love Barbera too. But Bonarda, Touriga Franca and Nacional are all unfamiliar, will have to keep an eye out for them!
Hi David, I've been a bit tardy, and it took me a while to realize you had two sites. Like the wine site - to the point. I love turkey with Pinot, so come by and have a look (last Christmas and last two Thanksgivings). Cheers!
Joe--yes, juggling several online projects here, hard to keep up with them all! Most of my food/wine blogging energies these days are the Wine Chat column over on Gather, and I started that Just the Wine to organize notes I was making. I'm on and off with that project, but I think I'll keep at it.
