This post is directed especially toward my fellow Boston area foodies. By day, I work with the Boston area nonprofit organization, Social Capital Inc. We are in the midst of an online benefit auction that runs until next Wednesday, Nov. 3, and have some great food & wine related items that I thought some of my followers here would be interested in.Topping the list is a private wine & food pairing event at the aptly named Pairings: Exploring Wine and Food in Winchester Center. This store was opened about 6 months ago by Lori & Ray Schaefer, and they are doing the whole area a great service by sharing their great passion for wine & food...not to mention their many under-the-radar great wines they have found during their extensive travel to vineyards all over the world. If you believe that wine was meant to go with good food, and vice-versa, you'll love Pairings. So enough already, check out their item and get in on the bidding--this went for $1,500 at another recent auction.
What, not convinced about the private tasting @ Pairings? Read about the Barolo tasting they had recently, or what I had to say about their grand opening.
But there are other great options on the auction. Like to host a tasty, 3 course meal, with wines carefully selected to match each course? And let someone else do the cooking? Well--I am that someone! I've offered this for the cause once before and it was a big hit--here's the menu, and here's where you can bid.
Now, the Pairings tasting and my 3 course meal are the biggest bargains right now on the site, but there are still good other good deals to be had for a good cause. We've got a number of gift certificates available for great local restaurants including Number 9 Park, Meritage, Capital Grill, Beacon Grill and the Melting Pot. You can see all the dining items here.
Early & often might not be appropriate for voting on Tuesday, but it's the way to go on this auction! So please check it out, lend your support for our cause and treat yourself to some good food and wine.
